Urban Outreach:
Skills for Life for Youth (SLY)
Revolution believes that God has placed us here for a
purpose. Part of our purpose at Revolution is making a difference
in the lives of at-risk children and youth in East Pittsburgh.
Why East Pittsburgh? Because it is the town out of which Revolution was birthed.
We should not forget the people to whom God has given us.

About East Pittsburgh:
--65% of our residents live in Section 8 housing.
--90% of our children are growing up in single parent households.
--$18,000 is the average income for a family of four.

We will NOT wait for someone else to solve these problems. We have established a
ministry called Skills for Life for Youth (SLY), a not-for-profit, 501c3, whose mission it is to
reach the at-risk children and youth of East Pittsburgh. Led by Kathy and Rick Dinkfelt,
SLY provides the following outreaches to this community:
*Tutoring program (for children K through 4th grade)
*Summer lunch program (at which we feed 100 children per day. We refuse county and
state funding for this program)
*Kidz' Club (a five day vacation bible school program during the month of July)
*Kidz' Church (a Tuesday evening Bible Study, at 6 PM during our Gospel worship service)
*Harvest Party (a safe Halloween alternative)
*Summer Festivals and events.
We always need volunteers for these programs. If you are gifted in any of the
following ways, you may be of help. Please contact Kathy at HKthy@verizon.net :
*Face painting
*Good at Math or Reading
*Making balloon characters
*Enjoy making crafts
*Like to play games
*Play music
*Like to paint or color
*Enjoy being with children
